Everest Base Camp (12-14 Days) Trek for Summit Seekers

This itinerary is designed for experienced trekkers seeking a challenging and fast-paced journey to Everest Base Camp (EBC). Expect long days, high altitudes, and breathtaking scenery at every turn. Acclimatization is crucial to success, so listen to your body and adjust the pace as needed.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m)

  • Arrive in Kathmandu and adjust to the altitude.
  • Meet your guide and trekking crew.
  • Complete necessary paperwork and permits.
  • Enjoy a welcome dinner and briefing about the trek.

Day 2: Fly to Lukla (2,840m) & Trek to Phakding (2,610m)

  • Take an exhilarating flight to Lukla, the gateway to the Himalayas.
  • Begin the trek with a gentle descent to Phakding, a charming village nestled alongside the Dudh Koshi River.

Day 3: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m)

  • Ascend steadily through a rhododendron forest and picturesque villages.
  • Arrive in Namche Bazaar, the bustling Sherpa capital of the Khumbu region.
  • Spend the afternoon acclimatizing and exploring the shops and cafes.

Day 4: Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar

  • Hike to Thame or Khunde for stunning views of Mount Everest and acclimatization.
  • Visit the Everest museum and learn about the history of climbing the world’s highest peak.
  • Relax and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Namche Bazaar.

Day 5: Trek to Tengboche (3,867m)

  • Climb steadily through forests and past prayer flags towards Tengboche.
  • Visit Tengboche Monastery, a beautiful Buddhist monument with panoramic views.
  • Attend an evening prayer ceremony and experience the serenity of the mountains.

Day 6: Trek to Dingboche (4,360m)

  • Follow the Dudh Koshi River uphill with magnificent views of Ama Dablam and Lhotse.
  • Reach Dingboche, a Sherpa village known for its yak pastures and cheese production.
  • Enjoy a hearty meal and prepare for higher altitudes.

Day 7: Acclimatization Hike in Dingboche

  • Hike to Nangkartshang Peak (5,087m) for stunning views of Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu.
  • Alternatively, explore the surrounding hills and valleys for acclimatization.
  • Return to Dingboche and rest well for the push towards EBC.

Day 8: Trek to Lobuche (4,915m)

  • Cross the Imja Tsé River and traverse boulder fields with dramatic mountain views.
  • Arrive in Lobuche, a high-altitude village at the Khumbu Glacier’s foot.
  • Prepare mentally and physically for the challenging day ahead.

Day 9: Trek to Gorak Shep (5,164m) & Hike to Everest Base Camp (5,364m)

  • Rise early and hike across the Khumbu Glacier moraine under the majestic peaks.
  • Reach Gorak Shep, the highest permanent settlement in the Everest region.
  • Afternoon hike to Everest Base Camp, feeling the awe-inspiring presence of the world’s highest mountain.
  • Return to Gorak Shep and savor the incredible experience.

Day 10: Trek to Pheriche (4,270m)

  • Descend back through the Khumbu Glacier moraine, enjoying panoramic views.
  • Reach Pheriche, a beautiful village known for its yak pastures and alpine meadows.
  • Rest and reflect on the accomplishment of reaching Everest Base Camp.

Day 11: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m)

  • Retrace your steps through Tengboche and down to Namche Bazaar.
  • Celebrate your achievement with a delicious meal and local brews.
  • Enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Namche Bazaar once again.

Day 12: Trek to Lukla (2,840m) and fly back to Kathmandu (1,300m)

  • Descend through lush forests and charming villages.
  • Arrive in Lukla and bid farewell to your trekking crew.
  • Enjoy a scenic flight back to Kathmandu and celebrate your successful trek.

Day 13 & 14: Kathmandu Departure & Exploration (Optional)

  • Spend additional time exploring Kathmandu’s cultural and historical sites.
  • Relax and recover from your trek before your onward journey.
