104km Solo Cycling Trip on the Highway of Nepal

Solo Cycling Trip on Highway of Nepal

The day started like any other day. I left home from Nepalgunj with a friend with my cycle at the back. After we reached Waling, Syangja, we decided to stay there for the day. The next morning, I took the bike out and started my 104km solo cycling trip from Waling to Kurintar.

I was on my way to Pokhara, where I was supposed to meet my friend who was driving on the same route. The sun was shining, and everything seemed perfect. Little did I know that I was in for the adventure of a lifetime. The journey began pleasantly. I was cycling at a leisurely pace, taking in my surroundings and enjoying the fresh morning air. I was impressed by the beauty of the landscape that surrounded me. The mountains and the hills were greener than ever and the view was breathtaking.

However, my pleasant journey soon took a turn for the worse. About halfway into my trip, the heavens opened and it started raining. At first, I just thought that it would pass quicker than it came. But, unfortunately, the rain only grew more and more intense by the minute.

I tried to take shelter under trees, but the rain was unstoppable. My clothes were totally soaked, my shoes were filled with mud, and my bike tires were skidding on the wet surface of the road. Even then, I continued cycling, desperately trying to make it to my destination in time.

But, eventually, after hours of battling against the elements, I finally made it to Lakeside, Pokhara. I was exhausted, muddy, and drenched from head to toe. But, I was also satisfied with my accomplishment.

After resting in Pokhara, I felt eager to begin my journey to Kurintar. The rain had been falling steadily for hours and I thought to myself “Well, a little rain shouldn’t stop me from this adventure”. I geared up, with my warmest clothes and my trustworthy bike, and set off for what would be the journey of a lifetime.

I was soaked, and the rain had not let up at all. It was windy and there were slippery rocks, mud and puddles everywhere. Despite the challenges, I stayed strong and made it to my destination in the late evening.

The sky on my way back to Kurintar was something out of a movie. The rain illuminated the dark sky. The rain made my journey more challenging than I could have imagined, but it was also what made the experience so incredibly rewarding.

Cycling through the rain has given me a unique appreciation for the beauty of nature. It may have been difficult, but it was worth it for the incredible experience I gained.
